What should we wear for our family session?" - This is the most frequent question that I am asked. So here is the answer - as far as clothing, LOTS of options would work well!
Here are some photographs of a few lovely families wearing complimentary colors (colors near each other on the color wheel). And, here are a few beautiful families wearing a main color and a complimentary color. Everyone will need to wear the same level of dress (casual, semi casual, dressy, etc.). Please don't mix these.
Patterns: When choosing patterns, ideally the individuals in your family do not match, but everyone coordinates. Someone can wear solids, someone can wear small strips, someone else can wear a small print and maybe more solids to finish off the outfits. You can mix and match dresses, skirts, pants, etc. A variety looks lovely. (In other words, please skip the blue jeans and white shirts for everyone.) Please let me know if I can answer any other questions regarding wardrobe and feel free to share your ideas in the comments below! This is one of my absolute favorite photographs of the year. I am constantly learning and working to improve my craft. When all of the pieces of my art fit together, from the lighting, to the props, to the tiny dried flowers on the head piece, to the wrapping, to the lovely neutral colors... to the beautiful sleeping baby, it is such a treat. I was so excited to welcome little A and her happy parents to my studio last month! She is such a tiny thing, well she was a couple of weeks ago, now she is a healthy growing bundle! Here are some photographs of the new family of three! <3 How sweet is little A?! She has the most wonderful smile. <3 This quilt was sewn by little A's grandmother and is such a precious keepsake. I look forward to years and years of milestone photographs of you sweet Baby A!
In June, I photographed the most beautiful fairy-tale wedding. Look at this location!! When I first heard about The Brooks at Weatherford, I knew my wedding photography dreams had come true! Well that was until I met the wedding party, saw the colors, the dresses, and flowers... THEN I knew that all of my wedding photography dreams had come true. AGAIN. The wedding was a beautiful ceremony, witnessed by so many loved ones. The breeze, the light, and the beautiful day poured into the chapel which was completely open on both sides. The father-of-the-bride offered the groom a lock which symbolized the marriage that the couple was entering into and he provided the key in case the groom ever wanted out, only it had to be held in a clear plastic bag as it was crushed into dust. Of course, the groom still wanted to marry his beautiful bride, even with the real commitment of forever. And then they were pronounced husband and wife and the groom kissed his bride. Per the bride and groom's request, the bridal party had a dance party on the way out of the church. It was hilarious! Then they had a party, some cake, a Dr. Pepper toast, and a ton of fun! This was one of my favorite parts of the whole day. The precious bride broke apart her beautiful bouquet and shared it with the single women at the wedding and then she prayed over them. It was such a gift to her girlfriends and to everyone watching. She is a blessing to everyone who knows her. And then there were bubbles and a very happy good-bye!
